Assam 1860Assam TeaTea

Assam 1860- the wake-me-up chai

written by Indrajit Lahiri September 12, 2015

Everybody loves a small gift once in a while and definitely I am no exception. So, I was extremely happy when this not-so-small parcel arrived at my doorstep. It was a small token of appreciation from a new extrant in the tea segment – Assam 1860. I saw then first in the Tea Treasureas in The The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata sometime back.

A person like me, I am not a avid tea-connoisseur, and definitely not someone who is very fond of Darjeeling tea. I like them full bodied- with milk and sugar. Hence, this is one variety which is suitable for me- I thought, and how right I was. But first things first.

The packaging is fantastic and chic. Mostly targeted towards the first generation tea-lovers, it is one darshandhari chai. The tea bags are well packed individually and with the elegance of a designer string, they looked damn good.

But statutory warning, this tea is quite strong and full-bodied and very small quantity is needed. A 2 min dip in boiling/ hot water is sufficient for a good cup of assam tea. The tea produced , offered me a great aroma first and a strong full-bodied taste (but not harsh) when it touched my lips. With/ without milk even, they offered a great wake-me-up strong tea.

This brand, quite cleverly, is using the internet as its prime ordering medium and can be purchased via their Facebook page of Assam 1860 and can also be ordered offline from their tea-carts in the city.

So, I am personally extremely happy with this product and a little birdie told me they are introducing a new product line along with the existing one, so keeping fingers crossed in this regard. Till then, cheers !!!

Bon apetite !!!
