Good france dinner at The Square, Novotel, Kolkata

Goût de France or Good France is an initiative by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development to promote and celebrate the excellence of French gastronomy. and, Novotel Kolkata was a part of it. Thankfully, I was invited by the management to sample the same in the coffee shop, The Square.

The decor and service here is top notch, as it should be. We were seated and the menu was presented to us.

We were asked for our selection of wine and for me, it was red. Along with it, The first dish that was served to us was Cappuccino of forest mushrooms with Gruyere foam. I tasted this for the first time and it tasted somewhat strange, but good. A warm soup-ish thing with a soup straw with mushroom shred. Great presentation.

The rest of the meal was served. It was a salad of compressed watermelon salad with balsamic dressing and basil coulis. The portion size was little smaller, but taste made up for it. And the main course was pan fried vetki with lobter bisque risotto and asparagus. Both were great taste-wise and visually also. The dessert was something different to look at. It was chocolate sphere with poached pears with chocolate soil and vanilla icecream. An awesome presentation.

The package is designed at 2000/-+ Tax per portion and guests are supposed to choose any one item from the segments in the menu card. Few other dishes (not tasted by me, though) are below.

Overall, a great experience and thanks Novotel for the same.

Bon Apetite !!!
